Description Disan Corporation has designed and manufactured a line of multi-line rotary couplings known as Azimuth Twist and Elevation Twist for the United States Air Force. The systems will permit the transfer of data and power for 160 circuits through a rotary coupling. The Azimuth Twist coupling may be rotated through ± 210 degrees of travel. The coupling is positive and includes shielded as well as twisted pairs. The Azimuth Twist and Elevation Twist are utilized in such systems as the Combat Talon on the C-130 for covert nighttime penetration and the Pave Tack system on the F-111. On the Pave Tack system, a laser designator may be employed for ‘smart’ bomb guidance. The units are utilized on the AAQ-15 and AAQ-17 FLIR systems for both fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Also used on MH-53J Pave Low FLIR. P/N 1400 fits the AAQ-15 and P/N 14500 fits the AAQ-17. The systems utilize state of the art flexible and rigid printed circuits and are designed to operate in hostile environments.
