Plan View Display Keyboard Disan P/N 10900 Description Disan Corporation has designed and manufactured a Plan View Display Keyboard (PVD) for replacement of the Radar Display keyboard for air traffic control in the FAA Air Route Traffic Control Centers (ARTCCs). The Air Traffic Controllers control the flow of air traffic by entering data into the control system via the PVD keyboard. Disan has manufactured 3,200 units for the FAA for distribution to the various ARTCC locations. An internal programmed computer chip drives the unit. The key action is accomplished utilizing magnetic reed switches. The unit has rear illuminated keycaps utilizing an internal electro-luminescent panel with variable intensity. The system is designed for high reliability and long MTBF. Included in the package is an audible alarm system (a mechanical bell). Also included are variable color alarm lights built into selected keycaps. The PVD is RFI shielded. Basically, no discreet wiring is utilized in the system with all inter-board wiring accomplished with high reliability flex circuits. |
